How many different ways can I share a dashboard?
There are a few dashboard sharing options you can use depending on the circumstance and what you're trying to accomplish.
The first is explicit sharing. You can select any number of Knowi users or groups to give them either view, edit, or admin access. For example if you have a number of sales dashboards, you can create a group in user settings and assign all the salespeople to this group. You can then select this group to explicitly share each sales dashboard with and choose the level of governance the members of this group have on the dashboard. Let's say you also want to add someone from payroll to the dashboard that tracks commissions you can also explicitly share that dashboard to this user as well. This option is best if the team members are existing Knowi users.
Another method is generating a share URL which can also be a secure-hash URL. This will create a link to view the dashboard that can be bookmarked/saved for continuous use. For extra security you can whitelist the IPs of the people authorized for viewing. You can pass filter through the URL and encrypt these parameters with secure-hash.
Embedding is great for when you want to make a dashboard public facing but can also be used privately. Just like the link share you can pass parameters into the embedded dashboard and encrypt them the same way. You can embed using SSO, for example if you have a dashboard with multiple customers' data you can use SSO so customer X only sees the data pertaining to them. You can also use Javascript to customize the look and feel of the dashboard to match the destination webpage.
If you want to share a dashboard on a schedule you can accomplish this using reports that can send through email, Slack, Teams, and Webhook. This is useful if you want your team to get a daily summary every morning or if you want the CFO to get the accounting dashboard every Friday.
Slack and Teams integration is also a great way to pull up dashboards and widgets in various communication channels. If you're discussing with a group of people in slack and you want to bring up a dashboard to reference you can use a command to pull the dash right into the slack channel.
The final option is saving a dashboard as a PDF. This will take a snapshot of the data that you can save and share.
