AI Updates
Model Selections (3901)
You now have the ability to either choose Knowi’s in-house model or other models (starting with OpenAI) for various features in Knowi.
This can be found with an AI Settings tab that has been added to user settings, available to admins only. The features that allow model selection includes:
- NLP
- Documents AI
- Instantsights AI
- AI Dashboard Generation
- AI Chat
- Recommendation Widget
Model Options:
- Knowi’s In-House Model (Default)
- Runs entirely within Knowi — your data never leaves the platform.
- Smaller and less sophisticated than larger external models.
- External Models (e.g. OpenAI)
- Enable advanced language and reasoning capabilities.
- May require data to be sent to the external provider depending on the feature, using your own API key.
Choosing the Right Model
Select the model that best fits your data governance, performance, and use-case requirements.
- If data privacy is the top priority → stick with Knowi’s in-house model.
If you need richer reasoning or generative capabilities → opt for OpenAI or other external models.
Admins can select one or more models per tool, with the first selected model serving as the default. When users access these AI features, they will now see a model dropdown allowing them to choose from the pre-configured options.
Recommendations Widget Enhancements (3892)
The Recommendations widget has been significantly enhanced to support richer insights and more flexible configurations:
- Updated UI: Refreshed interface for improved usability and readability.
- Selected Widgets Mode: Allows users to select up to three widgets from the widget library to generate focused recommendations, factoring in user widget-level filters and dashboard-level filters.
- Dashboard-level filters will get passed through selected widgets, regardless of whether it is placed on the dashboard or not.
- Dashboard Mode: Generates recommendations using the current widget data on the dashboard, factoring in all applied widget-level and dashboard-level filters.
- Points to 3 dashboard widgets dynamically, prioritizing the current widget, then preceding widgets, then following widgets. Widgets without a dataset tied to them will not be incorporated in the recommendations.
- Expanded Output: The number of AI-generated recommendations is no longer limited to 3, allowing for more comprehensive insights.
- Increased Data Limit: Up to 300 rows of data can now be analyzed per request, increasing the depth and variety of generated insights.
These updates give users more control over how recommendations are generated—whether from a broad dashboard view or targeted widget-level analysis.
Documents AI: DocuSign Integration (3923)
Docs AI now supports integration with DocuSign, allowing users to upload documents directly from their DocuSign library. This streamlines access to signed agreements and other important files for document-based AI analysis.
Other Platform Updates
User & Groups Management UI (3726)
The Team tab in User Settings has been reorganized with a refreshed layout for improved usability and clarity.
- A new Groups Table is now accessible via the "Manage Groups" button in the top-right corner. This paginated view displays key group details, showing: Group Name, Default Dashboard, Number of Users, and Group-Level Filters
The new User Groups Management UI makes it easier to view, edit, and manage groups, including quickly seeing which users belong to which groups and configuring group-level filters in one place.
Additionally, the User Invite interface has been updated with a more modern, intuitive design to simplify inviting and managing new users.
Widget Load on Prompt (3818)
The "Load Upon Prompt" setting—previously available only at the dashboard level—is now supported for individual widgets. This feature is ideal for large datasets that require filtering before loading, helping reduce initial dashboard load times. When enabled, the widget displays a Play button, allowing users to apply dashboard or widget filters before triggering data load.
Other:
- When exporting a widget to PDF using Print Chart → PDF, the export will now include any applied filters in a footnote below the chart. (3817)
- New loading animations throughout the product. (3866)
